Trailblazers: Fitness Arie Crown
October 5, 2025 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Join us for a fitness walk at Arie Crown Forest; Senior and kid friendly!
- Enjoy a casual walk in the woods on a gravel/dirt trail
- Bring a friend to chat with
- View nature and see and walk a smaller moraine area.
- View natural flora and fauna, you never know what you may see!
What to wear/Bring: Walking shoes. Dress according to weather, a rain poncho just in case. Mosquito-tick repellent, and drinking water. Please remember that whatever we bring into the forest should be deposited in an appropriate disposal container or brought back from the hike.
Site conditions/safety considerations: We will encounter a few bicycles on the path, so observe the rules of single file to the right when encountering cyclists. Bicycles do not have right of way however some bicyclists do not observe rules so be cautious around them.
Approximate 1-2 hour walk using gravel and dirt primitive trails
Meet your volunteer guide: Martha has explored the forest preserves since she was a young child. She has done quite a bit of horseback riding through the Palos area exploring the trails, flora, and fauna. She studied natural history including geology, ecology, general earth science, and Native American Nations as well as general history in college.
This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at [email protected].
