Bike Glenview – North Branch Ride

August 18, 2019

Event recap: Turnout was a little low due to early morning storms. But the weather cleared up in time for the ride and those that showed up were treated to a fun and informal ride. One of the highlights was when the group stopped at a small bridge over a creek at Miami Woods where there just happened to be three walking stick bugs on the plants right there in front of them! They took photos of them and one of the attendees thought it was so cool that she had to stop a family walking down the trail to show them. That’s how wonder is spread!

12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Please join us for our annual North Branch bike ride co-hosted by Bike Glenview. We’ll explore the beautiful variety of habitats found along the Chicago River, from Bunker Hill Forest Preserve to Harms Woods. You’ll encounter prairies, wetlands, and woodlands as we wind our way north. Discover what makes these preserves so important for wildlife and people alike!

We’ll stop along the way to chat about the ecology and history of the preserves we’re traveling through. There will be a longer walk through Blue Star Memorial Woods (just north of Harms Woods) to discuss restoration efforts at that site. This ride is designed for cyclists of all skill levels and will last about 3 hours for a total of 14 miles. The event is free and it does fill up, so please save the date and check back to register.

For questions, please contact Derek Ziomber at derek@fotfp.org.

* A helmet is required for this ride.
