Friends of the Forest Preserves

Have you ever visited Whistler Woods in Riverdale before? It contains oaks up to 300 years old, and they need your help! Invasive brush prevents their acorns from sprouting. Come join a volunteer group that will cut back the invasives and improve the habitat at this preserve. Learn about the interconnectedness between our everyday lives and the forest preserves, as well as what it takes to restore diverse wildlife, trees, wildflowers, and health in our forest preserves and our river system.

We will be meeting half-way through the parking lot – you won’t miss us. A few things to keep in mind: Make sure to bring your own water, dress for the weather and wear layers, sturdy, closed-toe shoes are recommended, and don’t wear clothes you would mind getting dirty. Tools, gloves, and light snacks will be provided.
