Trailblazers Walk: Watersmeet Woods
Please join us as we look for birds and odonates a.k.a. dragonflies and damselflies. Let’s see how many species we can find!
Difficulty level: intermediate-advanced hikers. Watersmeet Woods has few, if any, paved trails, so we will be hiking on rough terrain. Please plan accordingly. Sturdy hiking shoes are recommended.
Parking: Street parking is available in the residential area around Winnetka Rd. and Avon Ave. We will meet just inside the preserve near the corner where these two roads intersect.
What to bring: Water, hat, bug spray, sunscreen, binoculars, camera. Dress for the weather. Please be aware that there are a number of ticks at Watersmeet Woods. Take precautions and check yourself for ticks at the end of the hike.
Patricia O’Donnell will be your guide: Patricia is a birder, nature enthusiast, and a volunteer with Friends of the Forest Preserves, including a Trailblazers leader.
This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at sydney@fotfp.org.
