Trailblazers Walk: Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center
Please join us as we explore the kettle moraine region around the Little Red School House and beyond. We will enjoy the fall colors, talk about the post- Ice Age growth of these woods, explore the kettle moraine features of the area, and observe the flora and fauna of the biodiversity along the trail.
Challenge Level: Easy to moderate with a couple of difficult sections. Approximately 3 to 3.5 miles, up to 2 Hours
Parking/Meeting Location: Meet at the Little Red School House Nature Center (use the back parking lot) and gather there for some instructional time.
Meet your volunteer guide: As a lifetime resident of Cook County, Martha has explored the forest preserves since she was a young child. She has done quite a bit of horseback riding through the Palos area exploring the trails, flora, and fauna. She studied natural history including geology, ecology, general earth science, and Native American Nations as well as general history in college.
