Trailblazers Walk: Forest Way Grove

October 12, 2022: 2:00 PM4:00 PM
Free

Get some exercise and meet some new people while viewing the beautiful Skokie Lagoons.  Taking in the fresh air and seeing the gorgeous woods are great ways to spend an afternoon.

The walk will highlight the following:

  • Waterfowl that inhabit the area
  • Fitness and socialization

Difficulty level: Intermediate due to the endurance required to complete the loop around the lagoon. The walk is on paved trails.

Parking/Meeting location:  The group will meet at Grove #1 under or near the picnic shelter.  Parking is roadside and the address for GPS to use is Forest Way Picnic Grove #1, Glencoe, IL.

Meet your volunteer guide: Diane has a lifelong interest in nature and has been a Cook County Forest Preserve volunteer since 2019. Her particular area of focus is on native plants and the collection and sowing of native plant seeds in conjunction with the North Branch Restoration Project. As an avid hiker, she has formed and led fitness hiking groups for 10+ years.

What to bring/wear: There is very little shade along the path, so lightweight and light-colored clothing, as well as a hat and sunscreen,  are suggested.  Good walking shoes are essential. Don’t forget to bring water and insect repellent.

This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at sydney@fotfp.org.
