Trailblazers Walk: Catherine Chevalier Woods
Please join us on a guided fitness hike! We’ll explore activities in the forest preserves that help us get exercise and fresh air. And we’ll learn about nature through various volunteer programs.
This hike will focus on:
- Wildlife photography, especially photographing the many deer at Chevalier Woods
- The important role volunteers play in maintaining the forest preserves as great natural areas
- The many uses of the Leaf Snap and iNaturalist apps in helping you to connect more with your environment
Difficulty level: Walk will be 1.5 hours at a moderate pace (will be shorter if temperature and humidity levels are high)
Meeting location: At the parking lot of Chevalier Woods
What to bring: Please bring plenty of water and dress appropriately for the weather. Please also be advised that there is standing water, mud, poison ivy, ticks, and possible fallen trees.
Diane will be your guide: Diane has a lifelong interest in nature and has been a Cook County Forest Preserve volunteer since 2019. As an avid hiker, she has formed and led fitness hiking groups for over 10 years. Her particular area of focus is on native plants and the collection and propagation of native plants along the North Branch of the Chicago River.
This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at sydney@fotfp.org.
