Trailblazers: Cranberry Slough Walk and Talk
95th St, East of Flavin Rd/Willow Springs Rd., Willow Springs, IL 60480
Please join us as we explore the ecology of the Cranberry Slough Nature Preserve. We will discuss ecological restoration and how it has positively impacted this beautiful site! The majority of the trail is paved (a small section is not).
During the walk we’ll cover the following topics, among others
- Identifying invasive and native species
- Interesting facts about the site during this season
Challenge level: Moderate walking pace
Parking: meet at County Lane Woods off 95th Street West of LaGrange Road and gather in mid parking area
What to bring/wear: Water, comfortable clothing/shoes
Meet your volunteer guide: As a lifetime resident of Cook County, Martha has explored the forest preserves since she was a young child. She has done quite a bit of horseback riding through the Palos area exploring the trails, flora, and fauna. She studied natural history including geology, ecology, general earth science, and Native American Nations as well as general history in college.
