The Hidden Life of the Forest Preserves: Cool Mushrooms and Frozen Fungi

March 18, 2021: 6:00 PM7:00 PM

*WATCH THE RECORDING OF THIS WEBINAR*

Many wood decomposing mushrooms – like Turkey Tail, Giraffe Spots, and Trembling Merulius – can survive – and even continue to grow – throughout winter. They’re actually much easier to see now without plant leaves blocking the view! In this webinar, you’ll join Derek Ziomber, North Branch Field Organizer, to explore some of the important ways fungi interact with plants and wildlife. You’ll discover how fungi perform critical functions in nature, working behind the scenes in the soil to help plants get an early start in spring. And you’ll learn how you can help ensure healthy fungi populations in the forest preserves in Cook County.

This webinar is free, but you must register to join.

This webinar is part of a series, The Hidden Life of the Forest Preserves in Cook County, Illinois.
