The Hidden Life of the Forest Preserves: A Dazzling Diversity of Insects

April 8, 2021: 6:00 PM7:00 PM

*WATCH THE RECORDING OF THIS WEBINAR*

In the summer we might see, hear, and feel them everywhere – the buzz of a bee, the bright and contrasting colors of a butterfly, or the surprising bite of a mosquito. But once winter hits, where do all the insects go? Interestingly, the diverse habitats in our forest preserves provide important refuge for many insects before they emerge in the spring. Please join Maya Dutta, Poplar Creek Field Organizer, to learn more about insects in the forest preserves in Cook County, including where they go during winter, how to spot them, and what to look for come spring. These amazing critters are critical for healthy ecosystems – once you know more about them, you will have a better understanding of the world all around you!
