Ted Lechowicz Woods – Flower & Photo Walk
You’re invited to walk through a prairie in bloom and take photos of all the colorful flowers and tall grasses that grow there.
The group will learn a few tips on how to compose an attractive photo while enjoying some of the woods’ wildflowers show their beauty. If we’re lucky we might capture a butterfly or two in a photograph too! There are typically some interesting insects, especially pollinators, that can also be seen on plants.
Difficulty level: The walk will be an easy and comfortable pace on fairly level ground. The ground may be wet so plan you footwear accordingly.
Parking/Meeting location: The group meets in the circular parking lot just inside the entrance off of N. Central Ave.
Meet your volunteer guide: Diane has a lifelong interest in nature and has volunteered with the Forest Preserves of Cook County since 2019. Her particular area of focus is on native plants. As a certified seed collector she gathers native seeds in conjunction with the North Branch Restoration Project. As an avid hiker, she has formed and led fitness hiking groups for 10+ years.
What to wear/bring:Water for hydration, sun protection and good walking shoes are recommended. Insect repellent is strongly suggested too. A camera or camera phone are not required. Attendees can participate without taking pictures.
