Volunteers across Cook County have been reporting the sights and sounds of sandhill cranes making their Fall migration. After spending the Summer in mating pairs, sandhill cranes group together for their journey down to the Southern United States and Mexico. The fall migration of sandhill cranes is usually from mid/late October to late November. If you look up and think you hear a dinosaur flying overhead – it’s a sandhill crane!
