Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards Workday

April 7: 9:00 AM12:00 PM
|Recurring Event (See all)
Volunteer workdays every week on alternate Saturdays and Sundays

Come volunteer to restore native habitat! Filled with prairie, oak woodlands and wetlands, the Poplar Creek region in Northwest Cook County needs you. You will be given the opportunity to pursue restoration activities such as brushcutting, lopping, brush pile burn building, weed pulling, and seed planting – all while meeting others in the community. No previous experience is necessary. Please note that if you are under age 18 you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. According to Forest Preserve District rules, unaccompanied minors will not be permitted to participate in the workday.

To attend, please RSVP or indicate interest to Diana Granitto at dgranitto@msn.com.

Meeting Location: We have two work sites in Hoffman Estates, Illinois – the Main Site, where we work most often, is the Carl Hansen/Poplar Creek Forest Preserve, entered off the west side of Route 59 between Shoe Factory Road on the north and Golf Road (Route 58) on the south. We work at the second site, Schaumburg Road Grasslands (SRG Site), on special workdays. Please visit https://poplarcreekprairiestewards.org/ to see where we will be on each workday.
