Intro to Mushroom Identification Nature Walk

November 11, 2018: 12:00 AM

Clayton Smith Flatwoods – 6639 W. Harts Road, Niles12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Join in a nature walk where we will talk about the basics of mushroom identification and hopefully find examples of various groups of mushrooms in their natural habitats. We’ll likely focus on wood-decomposing fungi, but these flatwoods have a very diverse fungal community and, depending on weather, we could find other types of mushrooms as well. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to come to the workday starting at 10 a.m. Either way, meet at the parking lot at the north end of the preserve just south off of Harts Rd. The walk will officially end at 1 p.m. but, if interested, feel free to stay and explore longer.

For more information, contact Derek Ziomber, North Side Field Organizer, at derek@fotfp.org.
