Hidden Pond Woods Volunteer Workdays
Hidden Pond Woods offers a variety of delights, all within a short walk of the parking lot. The southern portion is oak woodland with small wetlands. The northern half is largely prairie, growing in increments year by year as more ground is reclaimed by volunteer efforts. Restoration includes the removal of invasive species like honeysuckle and buckthorn, and the collection and distribution of seeds of desirable native plants.
Directions: Meet at Hidden Pond Woods West picnic grove, on the east side of La Grange Road 0.35 mi. north of 95th Street. You’ll have to be in the northbound lanes (coming FROM 95th Street) to get into the lot.
