Flatfoot Lake Planting at Beaubien Woods Forest Preserve
Friends of the Forest Preserves, in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Field Museum, and Friends of Chicago River, invites you to come plant native aquatic plant species with us along Flatfoot Lake in Beaubien Woods Forest Preserve. Aside from helping control erosion, aquatic native plants are vital to maintain a diverse and successful native natural area, such as this lake. Aquatic native plants help filter fertilizers such as nitrogen and phosphorus from runoff water, and they provide oxygen and food to the animal species living underwater. Help us give back to Flatfoot Lake by coming out Saturday, September 25th from 10am -1pm.
We will be meeting at the parking lot off Flatfoot Lake, by the pavilion. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. We will be working along the lake, so be sure to wear sunscreen and wear a cap or hat. If you’re up for it, wear rubber boots to go into the lake. MASKS are still required for those unvaccinated.
