Collect seeds with us, enjoy the benefits of being out in nature, and do your part to help our forest preserves thrive!
Seed collection is a vital part of ecological restoration, bringing health and resilience to natural landscapes. We’ll work together to identify native plants and collect some of their seeds. The seeds will be brought to nearby areas or spread at the same site later in the season. These areas benefit from native seed to increase biodiversity and create improved habitat for creatures who live there.
No previous experience is necessary. Each volunteer seed collecting event will have a knowledgeable leader who will explain the steps and offer guidance. Long pants, a hat, and closed toed shoes are strongly recommended.
Meet by the Caretaker’s Building.
