July 23, 2022: 8:00 AM10:00 AM

Please join us as we explore the ecology of the Cranberry Slough Nature Preserve. We will discuss ecological restoration and how it has positively impacted this beautiful site!  The majority of the trail is paved (a small section is not).

During the walk we’ll cover the following topics, among others:

  • Differences between invasive and native species
  • Interesting facts about the site
  • Different levels of restoration through the site

Difficulty level: Moderate walking pace

Parking: Parking and port-a-pots are located at County Lane Woods. We will meet at County Lane Woods.

What to bring/wear: Water, sunscreen, comfortable clothing/shoes

Katie will be your guide: Katie graduated from Lewis University with an environmental science degree and a love for being outdoors. She has worked on a variety of projects that looked at the role of native and invasive species. She also has over 10 years of experience working in and enjoying the forest preserves in Cook County.

This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at sydney@fotfp.org.
