Trailblazers Walk: Forest Glen Woods

June 27, 2022: 1:00 PM3:00 PM

*This walk was originally scheduled for June 20, but was postponed to June 27 due to excessive heat.*

This guided hike will explore how both working and retired adults can help restore the forest preserves by volunteering in the woods. The format will be similar to a “walk & talk.” We will walk to the Volunteer Resource Center and back with some stops.

Join us as we promote interest in the forest preserves as a place to get exercise, fresh air, and learn about nature through various volunteer programs.

Please be advised that there can be ticks, mosquitos, poison ivy, and bike riders (on the path). Be sure to bring water, bug spray, and sun block. We will meet in the parking lot.

Diane will be your guide: Diane has a lifelong interest in nature and has been a Cook County Forest Preserve volunteer since 2019. As an avid hiker, she has formed and led fitness hiking groups for over 10 years. Her particular area of focus is on native plants and the collection and propagation of native plants along the North Branch of the Chicago River.

This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at sydney@fotfp.org.
