Insect Hike at Poplar Creek Prairie

June 27, 2021: 10:00 AM12:00 PM

Come out and learn about the insects of Poplar Creek Prairie! Our forest preserves are a safe haven for the insects of Cook County, and spending just a couple hours outside will allow you to see a high diversity of them!

Join Poplar Creek Field Organizer and native insect enthusiast, Maya Dutta, for a 2-3 mile walking tour. The walk will include stops to discuss insects in the region, examine native insect habitat, and time for observation. The walk will be on mowed grass trails. Please come prepared for the weather, including appropriate walking shoes, sun protection, and water.

We will meet in the parking lot of Carl R. Hansen Woods in Hoffman Estates. Attendees must RSVP and, if not fully vaccinated, practice social distancing and wear face coverings whenever social distancing is not possible during the hike.

Masks are no longer required for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Unvaccinated people must wear a mask outdoors when physical distancing is not possible.

To reserve your spot, please sign up on Meetup.com or email Maya Dutta, Poplar Creek Field Organizer, at maya@fotfp.org.
