Cranberry Slough Halloween Hike

Please join us as we explore the ecology of the Cranberry Slough Nature Preserve on Halloween!  During the walk we’ll cover the following topics, among others:

  • Differences between invasive and native species
  • Interesting facts about the site
  • Share spooky stories

Challenge level: Moderate walking pace; the majority of the trail is paved (a small section is not).

Parking: Parking and port-a-pots are located at County Lane Woods. We will meet at County Lane Woods.

What to bring/wear: Water, comfortable clothing/shoes

Meet your volunteer guide: Katie graduated from Lewis University with an environmental science degree and a love for being outdoors. She also has over 10 years of experience working in and enjoying the forest preserves in Cook County. Martha has done quite a bit of horseback riding through the Palos area exploring the trails, flora, and fauna. She studied natural history including geology, ecology, general earth science, and Native American Nations as well as general history in college.

This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at sydney@fotfp.org.
